Generally it is accepted that 0-200 yds is Short Range, 300-600 yds is intermediate range and 800 + is Long distance shooting. Of course there are 1000 + yard opportunities and competitions as well.
This class will introduce the fundamentals using iron sights as well as optics to achieve first round accuracy up to 800 yards. Upon completion of the course, you will have the skills to estimate distance and the effects of windage/mirage. Each student will shoot approx. 200 rounds, working up to 800 yards on steel targets. This class is not limited to caliber or weapon type, but we highly recommend a bolt action or bedded semi-automatic of 7.62×51 (.308 Win) or larger. Recommend you have backup iron sights on your rifle, (remember – old school shot irons to 1000+ yds). The Instructors will sharpen your skills and assist with equipment recommendations. You will receive a solid basic understanding in long range rifle shooting, practice and application is up to you. Call with any questions!
